Since in the past the production of sections – from the press, via the run-out system, cooling bed and stretching machine and saws – has already been almost completely automated, attention is now turning to the upstream and downstream work steps.

For the supply and storage of bars ahead of the billet heating furnace H+H has developed a flexible and space-saving system. Since the bars are transferred in bundles in any order and all the subsequent work steps are included in the automatic operating sequence, substantial cost savings have been achieved.

An advantage which should not be underestimated is that in this type of operation the surface of the bars is not damaged.
