After 2002 H+H supplies a further transport system for heavy cable drums

Contract announcement, July 2012. From the company Faber Kabel AG in Saarbrücken H+H has received an order for a further automatic cable drum transport system at its works in Hann. Münden/Hedemünden. The weights transported are up to 15 tonnes.

Faber Kabel has specialised in the sale of cables and conductors for more than 40 years. The company specialises in solving the logistical problems of its customers and meeting their needs for cables and conductors in an optimum manner. Its product range is comprehensive: around 8,000 items, which in their various forms of presentation for delivery make up substantially more than 80,000 packaged units, have to be provided. Around 400 tonnes are loaded every day and 31,500 storage positions are available in the company’s high-bay store.

The extent and above all the dynamics of this activity (as a rule deliveries are made within 48 hours and often even sooner) demand a sophisticated automated logistical system, whose capacity now has to be increased.

The link between the storage and consignment areas is provided by an automatic cable drum transport system, which moves the cable drums from a transfer point to the winding machines and then back again. For this the large weights to be transported demand the use of special pallets. Among others, the characteristic features of the transport equipment are their robust structure – they are handled with the help of large stacking units – and the relatively high transport speeds, achieved by means of frequency-controlled drive motors.

Completion is scheduled for December this year.
