H+H delivers a special crane to Hydro Aluminium Nenzing

Contract announcement, February 2012. Hydro Aluminium Nenzing has commissioned H+H to install a modified automatic crane for the modernisation of material flow for its existing 16-MN press. The contract follows on from a previous H+H project in which the material transport for another press was successfully automated.

Hydro Aluminium Nenzing/Bellenberg has for years held a peak position within the extrusion group of Hydro Aluminium. The plants, located at Nenzing in Austria and Bellenberg in Germany, employ around 450 people and operate four presses.

At the Nenzing plant, as part of an earlier contract H+H installed an automatic crane for rack transport between the press, furnace, store and packing area. Besides transporting the racks, this highly dynamic crane unit can also manipulate the cover of the chest-type furnace concerned. At peak performance the crane carries out up to 46 transport operations per hour.

Now, H+H has been awarded the follow-up contract to supply a second high-performance crane unit with an independent double rack gripper system, which will carry out almost the same operations for the 16-MN extrusion line.
